Frequently Asked Questions

  • Does your firm charge for an initial consultation?

No. We welcome inquiries and can usually tell you quickly if that is an area we are able

to provide assistance. For telephone inquiries please call Dr. D’Antoni directly at 626-

564-9800 or the general office 626-440-7200.

  • Does your firm handle litigation cases outside the State of California?

Yes, we have testified in cases in over 20 states in the U.S. and international cases in

Europe, specifically in France, the Netherlands, and Asia.

  • For a new litigation case what information do you need in order to proceed with the case?

If a case has already been filled we will need to know the names of the key parties and

their respective law firms to clear conflicts. This can be provided by sending a copy of

caption sheet of the complaint or a copy of the complaint itself. Assuming we have no

conflicts we typically have a conversation with legal counsel describing the case issues,

time frame and key deadlines and court dates, if they have been set.

  • Do you provide an estimate of your services before starting a case?

Yes, initially we need to review summary case documents in the form of complaint,

responses, motions and a discussion of estimates of time for various segments of the

anticipated case. We clarify our role and any reports and pending discovery dates,

documents available. We can usually estimate the cost of segments of the case and usually provide a range of fees likely to be incurred. Since each case is based on

individual facts, documents available and the uncertainty of opposition legal responses

it is difficult to estimate exact amounts.

  • Do you charge to do your preliminary review of a litigation case?

No. We typically provide that at no charge. If actual work is required before starting our

retention we do charge as part of our fee agreement.

  • For a litigation do we have a written agreement of your services and charges before starting the engagement?

Yes, once we have reviewed preliminary documentation and understand our role we

provide our standard retainer agreement which will need to be executed before

    beginning services.

  • Do you provide a list of your prior clients and your rates before beginning an litigation engagement?

Yes, we have a list of over 350 clients and over 125 law firms we have done work for which

is provided at the very outset of an engagement before our retention letter is signed.
